W3C The Coniston in the
'50s & '60s
  HUNTS

In the 1950/60s few people who followed the fell packs had cameras, whilst the main meets, for example Boxing Day, had an attendant newspaper photographer, so most of the time events went unrecorded.

Recently Derek Barnes, a follower in the 1950/60s, allowed me access to his collection, which has not been seen before. Where possible the locations are identified but several pictures have no writing on the back.

It seems the some of the Coniston followers visited the Duke of Beaufort's and surrounding hunts in May 1963 and some of the photographs record their visit.

Finally, two supporters, Fred Prickett and Ken Shepherd, are photographed on the ice on Lake Windermere, I suspect in the winter of 1963.

One or two of the photos were a bit damaged so I've taken the liberty of cleaning them up a bit. Web Ed.]
